Trauma does not disappear simply because time has passed; the body stores experiences through the nervous system, and when something frightening or overwhelming occurs, the body remembers to keep you safe. This is why survivors may still feel tense, hypervigilant, or emotionally numb long after the event. Trauma can appear in disrupted sleep, irritability, loss of focus, or emotional distance. These symptoms are not weakness but the body’s adaptive responses. The brain’s alarm system can stay activated even when danger is gone, making ordinary situations feel unsafe. Through trauma counselling, grounding, and supportive environments, the nervous system gradually learns to regulate again. Healing empowers you to live beyond the fear the trauma created.
