Children respond far better to guidance than punishment. Punishment may stop behaviour temporarily but does not teach emotional regulation or problem-solving. Guidance focuses on connection before correction; when a child feels safe and understood, they accept boundaries more easily. Shouting, threats, and harsh discipline create anxiety and resentment, while calm communication and consistency build trust. Effective discipline is about teaching, not controlling. Children thrive when parents model empathy, structure, and predictable boundaries, helping them grow into confident and emotionally secure individuals.
